Scouts - Virtual Meeting - Wednesday 1 April 2020

"It's Scouts, dear, but not as we know it."

Coffs Harbour Scout Troop goes online.

Join our first online meeting. It'll be different, but that's nothing new for us. We will be using Zoom for this meeting.

A Pioneer Tracker email will be coming out shortly, it will have the log in details. Please reply to indicate that you are planning on joining us so we can expect you. Parents are welcome to join their scouts to hear what the Scout leaders are planning. Please contact Quoll or Butch if you need the details emailed to you separately. (note change from Teams to Zoom)

To prepare for this meeting please have a ball of wool, scissors and a bunch of pencils. And, a notepad and pen to write things down. And your thinking hats on what could be possible.

And, who can find out where the quote above was from (with a Scouting change)??

Scouts and Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - 23 March 2020

To all Members of the Coffs Harbour Scout Group

We have been advised by NSW Scouts as of the 23/03/2020 to suspend all face to face Scouting Activities.

Full details of Scouts NSW decision is available here

Coffs Harbour Scouts has a proud history going back over 110 years and it is going to take all of us to work together to ensure we continue that proud history. We've survived 2 World Wars, and a few other interesting times. It is our turn now to do our part to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.

Your actions matter, each and everyone of you has a responsibility act in a manner than doesn't put others lives at risk. We as Scouts strive to help others and that is so much more important now. If we do not ensure we listen to the advice of our Government and act according. We are not helping others by possibly spreading this virus.

Joeys, Cubs, Scouts & Venturer Leaders will be coming up with plans to engage with our units in the coming weeks. Please be patient.
  • Venturers are already planning on moving online, with plans together as we type.
  • Scouts are taking a week off, then we're going to start our virtual scouting with some interesting Special Interest Award ideas.
  • Cubs have some plans in place, but want to manage it property.
  • Joeys you'll need your parents to work with us, we'll send more information.
In the coming weeks Scouts will be activating a series of new channels to enable adults and young people to stay connected to Scouting over the coming months. So, please keep checking your emails and the Blog for information on how to engage with Scouts in these unprecedented times.

I cannot tell you when this situation will ease and we can go back to Scouting as we have known it. What I can tell you, and I speak for all the Leaders & Adults that make up our Group, is that we are all committed to seeing Scouts in Coffs Harbour lead the way in this.

Yours in Scouting,

The Coffs Harbour Scout Group Leaders

Scouts and Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - 17 March 2020

Based on Scouts NSW and Scouts Australia communications Coffs Harbour Scout Group meetings are currently still taking place as programmed for this term.

We will be asking all youth to wash their hands as soon as they arrive and regularly during the meetings. We always encourage thoughtful personal hygiene especially around sneezes and coughs.

If any leaders, parents or members fall within the higher risk categories please do not attend meetings. (Please see the Scouts NSW information page for these categories).

The ANZAC day march has been cancelled. We have not further communications about other activities beyond our usual weekly section meetings so are assuming no change at present.

Coffs Harbour Scouts will be keeping up to date on this and adding communications via the blog as it is received. We'll take it on a week by week basis. We will be planning for next term as usual at this time.

If you are concerned, please contact your leader to discuss.
If you'd like further information, please go to Scouts NSW: https://www.nsw.scouts.com.au/members-services/health-and-safety/scouting-guide-to-coronavirus/
