This is a basic Camp Gear List to help you pack. This list is designed as a guide only. Remember everything should be packed into a backpack that your child can carry. Think about the 20% rule...
THINGS TO PACK
- 55ltr or greater Backpack.
- 2 to 4 man hike tent. Easily set up. You can borrow a scout tent too.
- Small propane gas cooker and pan's. Hexi stove is ok too. remember the matches.
- Matches or lighter for your fire at night.
- Shorts and collar shirt. (Cold weather clothes if the forecast is cold).
- Underwear, socks. minimum 2 of each
- Closed in shoes and water shoes if you have a pair. Scouts will not be able to walk around in wet shoes all day.
- Track Suit, Hoodie, beanie. (Good to sleep in only if not worn all day as well!!)
- Wide Brimmed Hat
- Rain Coat (Optional).
- Small Blow up Pillow or cushion (Optional).
- Sleeping Bag. -10 preferable.
- Extra Blanket (for cold weather camps)
- Foam mat to sleep on (NO SWAGS OR AIR MATTRESSES)
- Garbage Bags for Dirty and Wet clothes
- Torch or headlamp. (Fresh batteries).
- Towel or hand towel.
- Small day pack. Scout will have to carry their lunch, snacks and water throughout the day. No going back to the tents for anything.
- Uniform for parade. Uniform must be worn to and from camp.
TOILETRY BAG
- Tooth Brush
- Toothpaste
- Brush or Comb
- Soap in a container
- Sunscreen
- Insect Repellent. NO aerosols.
- Band Aids
- Roll on Deodorant
- All in a Toiletry bag
MESS KIT
- Dinner Plate. (Stainless preferable, plastic is good). No Glass
- Cereal Bowl
- Mug
- Knife, Fork and Spoon
- Tea Towel
- All in a Drawstring bag
NO AEROSOL CANS OR POCKET KNIVES ARE PERMITTED. NO ELECTRONIC GAMES / IPODS / MP3 PLAYERS / MOBILE PHONES ARE TO BE BOUGHT TO CAMP
